Combined therapy of radial shock wave in treatment of sport injuries

CLSportVarious injuries occur by large amount of professional athletes which need to be treated ASAP, so that the health condition would not worsen and result in a chronic condition. Sport injuries or accidents in athletics are oftentimes caused by stiff/overworked muscles. That can restrict the athlete to such a degree, that he needs to discontinue the physical activity or their performance is significantly reduced. Apart from that, the overloaded/stiff muscles may end up being structurally damaged in form of rupture of the muscle fibres or even ligaments if we continue in the activity.

Typical example is stiffening of the calves and insufficient regeneration by sprinters, which can lead to pain in the Achilles tendons. Another classical example is groin pain of a muscle origin, which can lead to inflammation of the adductor attachment of the hip in the area of their attachment to the pubis bone.

CLRVhlavicewe managed to reach a perfect and very fast result with combined treatment therapy of radial shockwave and focused shockwave by different groups of athletes within 3-4 sessions.

At first we thoroughly examined the individuals, and charted where are the trigger points located, and then we started the focused shockwave therapy treatment. In one session we treated 4 - 5 trigger points. According to the treated area and sensitivity of the patient we consequently applied radial shockwave.

In case of vaster problematics such as when concrescence of the connective tissues is causing pain to a certain muscle groups, we applied radial shockwave therapy. Consequently we applied “spray and stretch” technique according to Travell and Simons, and in the end we massaged the surrounding muscle areas with the V-Actor technology in case the problems would recur.

Simultaneously with the radial shockwave therapy, the patients have been treated with stretching techniques, PIR for muscles and mobilization of the joint blockages.

Most athletes felt relief from pain and improved range of movement already after the first treatment.

Most disorders in the attachment area have been treated with radial shock wave, and after 4 - 5 therapies, most patients felt relief.

Looking back at 7 years of experience and more than 3500 successfully treated athletes with the help of radial shockwave therapy, we prove its effectivity and success in the treatment of sport injuries and accidents.
